Vivenda da Saudade was born from a dream brought to life, inspired by the desire to return to one’s roots and create a special place on Terceira Island. After several years living in the United States, the owners decided to return to their homeland and build a space where they could share with others the beauty, tranquility, and authenticity of the Azores. Located in São Mateus da Calheta, by the sea, the house was thoughtfully designed to offer comfort, serenity, and a truly welcoming experience. More than just accommodation, Vivenda da Saudade reflects a deep connection to the island, its traditions, and its essence, creating an environment where every guest feels at home. Today, this place represents not only a refuge for those who visit us, but also the fulfillment of a dream: to share the beauty of the Azores with people from all over the world, in a warm and authentic atmosphere.

It is a feeling caused by the distance or absence of something or someone. It originates from Latin, where it carried the meaning of solitude. It is a word that has no literal translation in many languages. “Saudade” is one of the most frequently used words in love poetry and romantic music in the Portuguese language. It expresses the memory of something that once happened and an intense longing to relive certain moments.

Beautifull located B&B just outside Saõ Mateus Terceira. A very warm welcome from Al and Vilma, lots of great tips to visit and see, lovely breakfast in the morning with a marvelous vieuw over the atlantic.....And above all......The beds are a 10+!
